Actively...waiting...

We are excited to share that we have turned in all of our paperwork, completed our home study and raised all of the funds needed for our adoption!  We are still waiting for our fingerprints to come back and for a reference letter or two, but once those come in we will officially be actively waiting for a child!!

What that means for us is that our profile will be available to be shown to the birth mothers that come in looking for prospective adoptive parents.  The process usually works like this:  The birth mother starts looking at profile letters at about 7 months along in her pregnancy.  Usually she is shown about 4 or 5 different families that fit her criteria/preferences for an adoptive family.  From that information she chooses one family to meet with and discuss adoption.  They say that usually once you are chosen by your letter, the birth mom sticks with her decision.  After that it is simply a matter of waiting for the baby to be born and hoping that the birth mom doesn't change her mind in the meantime.  This is somewhat of a risk but most often once the mother has decided to give up her child, she does not go back on that decision.  With that in mind are walking in faith and trusting that God will protect our hearts no matter what happens.

It's exciting to know that we could potentially be parents within a few months!  However, it is typical for it to take about 6 months to a year to be chosen, so we wait knowing that we have no control over what happens next but that God does. Please continue to pray for us.  This time of waiting will be a challenge but we know that in the end it will all be worth it.

Moving Forward!!

Hello All!!

We are so excited to announce that we have reached the point in our fundraising goal to be able to start moving forward with our adoption  As of Today, we have a total of $13,770 raised of the total $15,750 needed to be fully funded.  Praise the Lord!!  Thank you all for your generous gifts, we are blessed beyond belief!  There is no way that we would be where we are without all of your support both financially and spiritually, so again thank you so much!

So what comes next?  The next step in our process is to complete our home study and fill out all of the paperwork to get certified.  This coming Wednesday we actually have our first interview scheduled and this Friday we plan to get our fingerprints done.  After the initial interview we have to each complete an individual interview and then have them come to our house to do a home interview.  Once the interview process is over it is just a waiting game for all of our paperwork and references to come through.  Theoretically, we could be certified in two months however it may take a bit longer.  Once we are certified we just wait for a birth mother to choose us :)

As we move forward through this process we will continue to keep you all updated.  We are sure that the next couple months are going to be both exhilarating and trying and we continue to covet your prayers.

Fundraising Update

Wow!  Thank you all for your generous contributions to our adoption fund over the Christmas holiday.  Going into the the holiday our fund contained a total of $1500, now we are at a total of $4370.  This amount is so much more than we could have imagined.  God has blessed us with some pretty amazing family and friends!!

Just to bring you all up to date on where we stand now in the process, we are hoping to start moving forward with the paperwork of the adoption process once we reach half of our goal, which is $7500.  We hope to be at that point, God willing, by the end of February.  We will continue to keep you updated as we continue in this process but in the mean time we would covet any and all of your prayers.  Thanks again to you all!
